Kansas City Christmas

We missed having Griff' and Missy with us this Christmas, but were more than happy to make a trip to Kansas City to visit them. Jonathan and I have always been fans of Priceline, wondering what kind of deal we can find. Mostly pleased, sometimes disappointed and always thrilled when we end up in a better than expected spot for a few nights. Especially when your door is opened for you curbside, you are handed a glass of bubbly to take to your room and a white robe is hanging on the backside of the bathroom door.

I do boutique well. And I quickly learned so does my, not so little anymore, e. He loved the small elevators and the elephant made of towels, the view of the city from our room and he even commented that it was pretty cool they gave me sparkling wine upon arrival. Thanks Hotel Aladdin for a fun stay while we were in KC.

He's just getting too big. On this little trip with him, I gazed at his smile and watched with awe and wonder as he took care of the cousins. I thought about Mary. How old was Jesus when she realized he was no longer just a boy, but learning and growing into a young man? And maybe I fought back tears a few times, like right now. I sure do love you e and and proud of you and your heart. This time away with you was an unexpected gift. Thank you.

He found himself a boy in the midst of 5 girls opening gifts and giggling. Baby Creed was waddling around avoiding the chaos on the couch.
We placed the gifts under the tree and picked up enough Chinese carryout to feed a small army. We opened gifts and chased kids. Filled plates and sippy cups and refilled plates and sippy cups. Tasted my brother's first batch of Moonshine -- YUM -- and laughed and watched and it was chaos, Christmas Chaos and it was perfect.
After we wrapped up the evening we drove through the Plaza, making the trip to Kansas City at Christmas time complete. There really is nothing like the Plaza at Christmas if you are from this part of the country. We headed back to our hotel where I shared an evening with a girl friend, Elliott a movie with Bodee and Griff' and Pops hit P & L.

The next morning shortly after I woke I was able to go for a 45 minute run downtown. I love running in a city. Different sounds and tall buildings, new places and Occupy KC tents outside the Federal Bank Building. We headed to The Filling Station for coffee and conversation with Griff' & Missy then met my mom's family at The Filling Station BBQ for ribs a little later in the day. It was another full day, full hearts and definitely full bellies!

The best Christmas...It continued.
