I'm a Sharpie gal

I have been a Sharpie fan for years. I've used them for letter writing for years, avoiding the warning the company gives. All colors, a variety of tip sizes, used to mark us for swim meets & draw fake tattoos and I even let a friend color in my dimple for his birthday our Senior year. A fine tip, black Sharpie was handed to Billy, I turned my head, grinned and he marked.

This summer I was marked a number of times and remarked for races and just this week I started carrying one with me on my run & had it on the deck at the end of my pool lane. I'm not a gadget gal or a person who has a number of items to pull from her closet to wear when I train. I have 1 Icebreaker shirt I found in at a park in Colorado 2 years ago. I wear every day I run in the winter. I wear it under the same jacket, with the same gloves and hat. I do have a 2 pair of tights and knickers and 5 pair of socks & my swimsuits, lost and found at the end of summer camp. That's a long way of saying that I don't run with fancy gadgets telling me my speed and time and distance and heart rate. I carry my phone that dies after about 15 minutes because it's on it's last leg and use a heart rate monitor I picked up at Target 4 years ago. Oh, it's battery is dying too.

I am 1 week into real training for a 70.3 triathlon. I have never trained for a tri, just swam, biked and ran then put it together with a little success 3 times this past summer. I have trained for a number of half marathons and for a full, but that was a calendar with  miles to run, not speed work and drills and a coach. This is new and hard and good and confusing and I'm doing it with a smile...mostly.

I'd say the majority of people in my TriClub use a Garmin and keep a close eye on pace & heart rates & all sorts of other letter abbreviations that I don't know what they even mean, but not me. I'll continue to use my sharpie and heart rate monitor and hope for the best.

Hey, you think Sharpie would sponsor my efforts?

Sharpies were one of the 3 things on Cecilia's Christmas list. I guess she's a sharpie girl too. I'm not surprised that you have that in common!

Oh I love sharpies! When I left my job to go back to school two years ago, they got me sharpies. They are just the best. People keep trying to convince me to use the new sharpie pens and I just shake my head. I write in my journal in sharpie. I don't care if it means I get to only use half the pages. All this to say, preach it, sister! And if you get a sponsorship, mail me a sharpie:).
