Our boys wanted a dog.
We waited years before we said yes.
I'll be honest, we still owe them a dog. (Oh, but please do not tell them.)
Because DandyDog, he's mine.

He's at my feet most of the day & waits on my side of the bed until I return.
The wrinkled comforter is a dead giveaway.

He has loads of bad habits, like snatching food from the counter.
Sometimes he asks for things politely, but mostly not.
Above it his polite way of asking for a belly rub.

I stood up and snapped a photo of the floor to my left. He was dreaming.
Soon he will be a bounding ball of energy when he sees me change out of my house shoes and into my running shoes. He knows the routine. I change. He jumps and darts around. I fill water bottles and grab his leash. He bumps into me and tries to open the door to the garage. I gather the last of my gear and he's proud because he's snuck past me and is waiting by my car. I'll open the door, he will hop in and off we go.
Today I think we will run for an hour and a half, run a few errands & wait for the boys to get out of school. He will sleep in the car while the boys and I are inside the library doing homework and reading. He will greet people at the Spark Cafe where we stop to pick up hot chocolate and coffee. They know him there and often step outside to say hello. Then we will head to the rink to go ice skating. Maybe tonight will be his night to make it onto the ice.
