Weekend Part A

We have some friends who have never had an adult/kid sleep over. My boys and I have so many fun memories of weekends or overnights spent with friends, that we hated for them to be missing out. So we invited them over for dinner/glow stick dance party sleep over. They accepted and we were excited. We had a great time, so much fun that around 9:30, not 1, but 2 sheriff vehicles pulled up our drive.

I walked outside to see what the problem was. Certainly computer speakers plugged into a laptop playing a mix of techno dance and 80's dance pop on Pandora couldn't cause a noise disturbance. They asked how we were doing and I asked why they were at my house. They wondered if we had heard a lady screaming and running up and down the road earlier. I explained that well, we had just wrapped up our dance party and although it wasn't too loud, we would not have been able to hear any noises from the road. They smiled and said good night and left. It was a fun evening with loads of laughter, yummy food and maybe 1 too many Little Debbie snack cake. Perfect for a mom and kid dinner/glow stick dance/sleep over party.

Yea, it's soccer season and our favorite of the year. The boys have been practicing for a couple of weeks and today was their first game. Chas started out in the goal and had a crazy busy half. So many shots on goal, but only 1 passed him. He did a great job. 2nd half he played forward and took the ball down the field a number of times, but never got the ball to cross the goal line. That game was a 2 Tootsie Pop Game. (See note at bottom)

Elliott has moved up into a competitive league, no longer recreational where every kid plays every position. I was relieved that he's a better field player than goalie. I know they are young, but I still find myself crazy when they are in the goal. His team is great and they play well as a team. It's really fun to watch them pass and look down the field for an open player. Elliott had one play where he took it 3/4 of the field, weaving in and out of the other players to make a goal. It was pretty footwork - the best I've seen him do in a game. I couldn't find Elliott on the field, when I noticed he was in the goal! Insert Tootsie Pop to mouth. Their team won 15 - 0 and he didn't get any action as goalie, but that was fine with me. This was a 1 Tootsie Pop game.

Tootsie Pop:
In high school my mom always brought a candy bag with her to the games. It was filled with all sorts of things, but we were not able to eat the Tootsie Pops. Those were reserved for a few parents who had the tendency to yell more and louder than they (or maybe the other parents) wanted. As much as I wish I didn't fall into that category, I tend to speak loudly to my boys when they are on the field, especially when they are in the goal. So, I have adopted the practice and really try not to crunch through to the middle.
